In a Nutshell: I visited North Korea in late 2014 and over 16 days ventured to all corners of this mysterious nation on one of the longest itineraries ever executed for foreigners. Here are 100 photos (part 1) taken during this visit to North Korea.

Awesome job Elliott, very enjoyable. Congratulations!
Hi Elliott! Thank you for posting these pics. I was riveted by them! I feel sorry for the people who live there. Glad you made it out in one piece! Can’t wait to see more!
Really, really enjoyed both parts of your travel pictures. Very well done! You captured a side of the country I had never seen with all the village shots and construction processes.
May I ask what kind of camera you used?
Thanks for the insight into NK!
So please comment on this, Elliot?
We are led to believe that most of the North Korean population lives with minimal food, although the elite and the military eat well.
Starvation, and even rumors and reports of cannibalism in remote poor areas. Any hints of truth to this?
Awesome photos, the most i have ever seen of North Korea. Hope you do more photos. Absolutely outstanding.
Thanks for the amazing pictures, Elliot!
I’m not sure if you’ve visited South Korea, but the difference between the two countries are so surreal. NK reminds me of old-time SK. The way they dress, hairstyles, the propaganda. I have a friend that is a North Korean refugee and the little stories he has told are heartbreaking. There is a documentary of him and it left everyone who has watched it in tears. However, your pictures definitely show a different side to how the masses view NK. It’s beautiful yet sad. Aesthetics aside, I really am curious as to your views on NK. After seeing your photos I actually would love to visit myself.
Elliott,
I wanted to go on a trip like this after living in South Korea in the 80’s but only got as far a China. You are very lucky! Thanks for sharing the great photos of your time in North Korea. I will probably view them several times. Take care!
