In a Nutshell: I visited North Korea in late 2014 and over 16 days ventured to all corners of this mysterious nation on one of the longest itineraries ever executed for foreigners. Here are 100 photos (part 1) taken during this visit to North Korea.

I greatly enjoyed the photos. Amazing to see a part of the world that few have seen and yet here are the pictures for all to see. Thank you for presenting them to us here because this was amazing being able to live vicariously through these pictures. Couple of questions. 1. Which pictures were deleted by the security as you were leaving the country? Also, 2. were you given the opportunity to see the palace of Kim-Jong Un? Again loved the pictures!
thank you for risking life in prisonment to show the world the current state of affairs. you now may be on north koreas hit list to be assassinated.
Thanks a lot.
Fantastic !
Wow…those are some really amazing and enlightening photos. It’s such a beautiful country, but it’s too bad most of the buildings are so sterile. I wish we could set our differences aside, because we could learn so much from each other.
I really appreciate you sharing those photos with us and I loved reading your comments under each photo. I will look at these more than once for sure. Thank you
How can someone go on a trip like this?
Fascinating pictorial of North Korea primarily for the fact that I have seen so few pictures before. One question–where were all the people..many of the scenes appeared of human life?
Amazing ! I had to go through each picture and read all of the added comments from you. Great job. I am now going to look at all of your other pictures. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us.
wow… just wow… speechless
Hi Elliott,
Thank you so much for sharing your photos. I saw and hear little bit about N. Korea but these pictures are great. I have traveled many countries before but N. Korea is not my list of place I’d like to visit. Mainly because I feel sad of people living there in such isolation and total control from top government. I wish someday the two parts of country unite for good.
Thanks again for awesome pictures.
Wow … what an amazing photo journal. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect, as North Korea has been notoriously censuring about any information and imagery entering or leaving the nation. Some of these photos are just amazing. What a trip. Did you actually get to play golf in Pyongyang? For some reason, I thought that course was reserved only for the Great Leader. I have heard stories that Kim Jong-Il only played it once, scored a perfect round, and never felt the need to play again. The propaganda around the Kim family is robust and amazing.
You have a bright future in photo journalism ahead of you and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.
